Blossoming with Colors: Celebrates the festival Holi with COMGrad

BU COMGrad is celebrating the festival Holi on Mar. 25 at the COM Building for the first time

BOSTON, MA - On Mar. 25, 2024, BU COM Graduate Council (COMGrad) will celebrate the Holi, a traditional Indian festival on the COM Lawn in front of the COM Building, located at 640 Commonwealth Ave. The event will last from 12 to 4 pm and will be open to the entire BU community. The Holi is the festival of spring, colors, and love. The lawn will be decorated with flowers and colors. COMGrad is prepared to resonate with the thriving season with the whole university.

Having hosted many cultural events, this is the first time COMGrad celebrates the festival Holi. As one of the most celebrated traditions in India, the Holi holds significance both culturally and socially. The date falls on the full moon day in March (Phalgun) in the Gregorian calendar, marking the arrival of spring. The Holi celebration event at College of Communication aims to convey the same spirit.

“We want to introduce the festival Holi to everyone,” said Virgil Garrett, the Co-Chair of Social Affairs at COMGrad, “we are not only celebrating an Indian legacy but also honoring our diverse student body. We hope this vibrant cultural experience will light up the approaching spring.”

The theme color for the 2024 celebration is white which represents truth and peace in India. Free traditional Indian drinks like lassi and snacks like pav bhaji will be available at the COM student lounge. To increase the immersion, COMGrad will also provide colored powders and canvases for palm prints and body painting.

The Holi celebration is about enthusiasm, joy, and hope. Stop by, grab some snacks and drinks, and vibe with the vivid scene, music, and the day!
